Did you know that Indiana got its first ever National Park just a year ago?! Previously Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is now Indiana Dunes National Park. Whether you enjoy scouting for rare bird species, on a photography outing or just want to fly a kite on the sandy beach, the national park’s 15,000 acres will continually enchant you! Hikers can enjoy 50 miles of different terrain and scenery. You will hardly think that you are in the Midwest when you see the turquoise waters of Lake Michigan. Just an hour outside of Chicago, you will truly feel like you can reach out and touch the city on a clear day. Which is what makes the Dunes a true hidden treasure of the Midwest.
